Hey thanks for the invitation Jaz
Alright, guess it's my first time blogging something about myself, and about how i came to know about Jay Chou. Well, can't remember which year it was when i heard about him, but i saw him on TV holding up what i believe was his first ever World Tour concert, with him having that mushroom haircut and waving his hands attempting to get his audience to sing-a-long with him. Then follow-up was a news about him appearing as a small role in some movie as an alien or whatever, couldn't remember much but except i thought, "Now seriously, what's up with this guy's facial expression?" <_<>
Anyway, sometime later i went fishing with my group of secondary school buddies in Pulau Ubin. Whilst fishing, i realized my friend had CREATIVE's newest product, the mp3 player, freaking large piece of hardware that looked ELITE at that time. So naturally i played around with it, exploring it's functions and such. Scrolling down the songlist, i came across the title, "Zhou Jie Lun - Long Quan". "HAH! that stuckup fella?" i thought. So i gave it a try, and HOLY MOCHAFOLLY! What In the Frigging WORLD?! That shyt IS DOPE! The arrangement, the music, the beats, the style was totally FRESH! I couldn't in my whole life repeat song as much as 20 times and still not get sick of it. The rest of the songs i heard had totally reassured that this Jay Chou guy has got ta be some serious talent born outta some magical stone or something. Alright maybe not, but maybe a prodigy.
And so my fish got away, and i don't give no shyt about it, who cares? Good music's here! Or so i thought. And to tell ya the truth, that was my first ever real taste of Mandarin pop music. I was a loyal English pop fanatic, listening to songs from Backstreet boys, to Savage Garden, Westlife, A1, and etc for the girls love them back then, so do i. lol. Well they're pretty good actually, so not totally about the girls.
Yep and so then on, i totally forgot about English pop, and everywhere i went was See Jay Chou, Eat Jay Chou, Sing Jay Chou, Hear Jay Chou, Play Jay Chou and Sleep Jay Chou. Yup no Jay no life basically. My friends thought, this guy has seriously gone mad. From some dude who despise Mandopop, to a fanatic now. It's phenomenal, a total overnight kinda thing.
And so up till now, i'm still a Jay Chou fan. Yep well not as energetic nor fanatic as before but his music, his creativity and his style still runs deep in my blood. All the way Jay! Music has never been this sensational without your touch! KEEP IT UP!!
Well long intro i know, dull i guess but hey that's my story. What's yours? :))
